Project Description
Steroid-induced osteoporosis: Chronic use of the often necessary glucocorticoids (e.g. prednisone) is attended by a loss of bone mineral density (BMD) as well as a loss of bone quality). Even small doses (e.g. 2.5 mg/day) used for long periods of time can lead to fractures. There are FDA approved therapies to reduce fracture risk in patients needing chronic glucocorticoids.
