Osteomalacia: Osteomalacia (adult rickets) is a not uncommon metabolic bone disease that can lead to chronic bone pain and fractures, especially of the hip, pelvis, humerus. Osteomalacia has many causes including severe vitamin D deficiency, low serum phosphorus levels, malabsorption, and chronic kidney disease. Once the causes of osteomalacia are defined, osteomalacia can be treated.
